Hello and welcome back to my weekly thoughts!

Today I'm going to talk about being alone, and being lonely.

Frequently I will find myself thinking of loneliness and being alone as the same thing, but more and more I begin to realize this is not true. Both ideas can be present at the same time and also individual experiences.

On one side of things, you can be with people all the time but still lack intimate connections, that's not being alone, but it sounds pretty lonely to me.

On the other side, you can be alone by free will, doing things you enjoy by yourself, in a situation like that one would definitely be alone, but it doen't sound lonely at all.

Because I relate the two ideas so much in my own head I begin to think that one being present requires the other, more specifically it can seem like being alone should be something to avoid, no one wants to be lonely after all.

But being alone and enjoying it is truly an empowering experience, sure I must admit humans are social creatures so some degree of interaction is always going to be necessary, but everyone requires different amounts which means putting some thought into where you lie on that spectrum is pretty important.

Hopefully you're not feeling lonely today, but if you are, maybe ponder what's causing it for a moment, this can really clear things up.

As always thanks for reading and have a great day.

I can really relate. Being alone does not need to be lonely. It can be very fulfilling at times. But so can being with people. In fact a good balance is a good goal. It also forces each of us to push ourselves in the area we aren't as comfortable.
