The Unknown

Hello and welcome back to my weekly thoughts!

Today I want to talk about unknowns and how they can affect us

For some, the unknown is mortifying and freezes you in place, I am in this group of people sometimes. But like most things, this fear is just based on mindset, often nothing has even happened yet, so if you're afraid it's probably of how you think things will play out.

I've found this can stem from many places, including but not limited to, similar past experiences which were negative, overactive imagination, or just a general pessimistic attitude.

Sometimes this comes from order and plans as well, say you've created an incredibly detailed plan and what order everything will occur in, A then B then C...etc. But right when you put your plan into action you end up starting with B instead of A. That would cause a big panic personally, but what I have to realize is that just because I started with B doesn't mean I can't go back and do A, in fact A could be the last part of my plan in some circumstances.

I guess my point is, there's a reason knowing the future has been depicted as a superpower, because it really is impossible, even if you're incredibly experienced and prepared, there will still be surprises.

For this reason I think most plans should be treated like the pirate code, "More like guidelines than actual rules", refraining from too much detail and expecting some compromises.
