Summer Heat

Hello and welcome back to my weekly blog post!

Today I wanted to write about my experience with the summer this year, or more specifically, the heat of the summer.

I feel like more recently each summer has been hotter than the last, with the best example being last year when Washington state broke it's heat record with a whopping 120 degrees Fahrenheit in some areas (big congrats yay).

It could also be my view changing on the world, having a job means you don't get summers off anymore like in school so there's nothing to soften the blow when the heat strikes.

I also don't have any air conditioning, the importance of which becomes very apparent when summer finally arrives.

All these things come together for a particularly unpleasant experience, something I try to avoid as best I can.

For starters I've been keeping my windows closed with the blinds over them, and then additionally a sheet pinned against the window as well, trying my best to keep the sunlight from heating up my room, and I'd like to think it's working to some degree, my room is definitely cool than outside temperatures so that's a plus!

I've also been going through water like crazy, I have a whole rotation system for my fridge to make sure I always pick the water that's been in there the longest, it gets pretty intense during the mid-day hours.

If I really can't stand the heat though, I can always set up base in my car, I'm fortunate enough to have very good air conditioning in there, it only takes a few minutes before it's a pleasant temperature again, although I always find it interesting when it gets to this point in the year where rolling down the window while driving actually makes the car warmer instead of cooler.

I must admit most of my struggles are from 3pm to 9pm though, once the sun finally starts to set I can open my window and blow the cooler air inside. For those last couple hours around 7 or 8 I'm always looking out my window to see if the sun is down yet, it's such a relief when I can finally cool down.

As you can probably tell, as a Washingtonian, I'm not very accustomed to heat, so any advice on how to deal with it is more than welcome, these are just the tactics I've learned during the 3 months I have to deal with it each year.

Alright, thanks for stopping by, please make sure to give my latest song a listen (always on the main page, new song every week), and have a beautiful day!

I'll see you next week. :)
