Routine

Hello and welcome back to my weekly thoughts.
Today I wanted to talk about routine. It's very powerful and effects you more than you might expect.
After I got COVID my routine kind of went out the window, and I started to get super depressed, I felt useless because I wasn't really doing anything.
But after I got better I decided I wanted something more concrete for my daily life, just something to hold onto, even if it was as simple as eating three meals a day.
I started by setting easy goals, like waking up and going to bed at a consistent time. I also started meditating in the mornings, nothing too long, just a few minutes, but it helped me gain a sense of structure.
Today I'm still not very far along in the process but I think my routine is better than it was before I got sick.
By setting simple and achievable goals one at a time, I've been able to build to recognizable change.
It's helped me get more things done and put me in a better state of mind.
Honestly, I didn't expect much of it when I decided to commit, but just a few days in I was already noticing improvements in my mood.
Without the routine it felt like I didn't really care how my day went, I didn't plan out any steps, I didn't put any effort into controlling the outcome of my day.
But with my new structure I really have been happier, it's not perfect, but it's better.
Make sure you put effort into your schedule as well, it doesn't take much to enhance your days, and it gives you a good anchor point to hold onto!
As always, thanks for reading, and have a nice week!
